Re: cleaners & fruit spray

I use baking soda to clean alot of things. You know all those Little Tikes
type play things that have those little bumps in the plastic....baking soda.

The oven...baking soda....just about anything you'd use an abrasive scrub on
you can use baking soda (unless it needs bleaching)

A few years ago I clipped some recipes out of newspaper and have found them
to be good...here they go:

SPOT REMOVER
1 cup ammonia
1 cup liquid dish soap
1 cup water .........mix all and put in a squirt bottle

ALL PURPOSE CLEANER
1 gallon hot water
1/2 cup vinegar
1 TBS baking soda (if you need a strong cleaner double the vinegar and
baking soda and add to 1 gallon water)

CLOGGED DRAIN
1/2 cup baking soda
1/2 cup vinegar
1 kettle boiling water

To open drain, pour 1/2 cup bs, then 1/2 cup vinegar. Cover drain and let
it sit 15 minutes, flush with kettle of boiling water...good for routine
care
I've used it and it works!

FURNITURE POLISH
1 part lemon juice
2 parts olive or veg oil

METAL CLEANERS
Brass & Copper - equal mix of salt & vinegar, rinse thouroughly when done
Silver - paste of baking soda & water, rinse when done

SPOT REMOVER for set in stains by Gentle Spirit
(this works well for those set in yellow baby clothes stains or clothes
yellowed by age)
1 cup Clorox II
1 cup Cascade dishwasher soap
Mix in a bucket of very hot water. Soak garments overnight.

Fruit Tree Insectiside & Freeze protector

1 cup 3% hydrogen peroxide
1 gallon water
1 cup white sugar

Spray on buds before they open to protect from freezing the blooms.
