Okay, for all of you who have heard this story--my apologies....My dh and I live on a small acreage in the city limits-right on a main
highway, about a mile from the lake that is the city's recreation area/water
source. On the morning of my 25th wedding anniversary, we were awakened by a
phone call from the local police (they know we keep cows here). It seems two
of our steers had gotten out, and taken a little stroll down to the lake.
Through the local housing addition. When we got there, there were 2 patrol
cars watching our lovely little steers graze on the park's grass, drink from
the lake, and do what cows do. The joggers and walkers on the jogging trail
were carefully watching the cows, many unfortunately were walking their dogs
who loved barking at the cows and watching them run. My husband and son and
police officers tried to round up the cows with no success. I told my dh if
the local newspaper showed up--I was outta there. One little old lady walked
up to me and said "are those cows?" and I said "yes" and she said "are they
yours?" and I told her they belonged to my dh. She thanked me for livening
up her morning walk. (She had left her glasses at home and thought they were
deer.) We eventually had to call a local roper, who came out with his horse
and roped and pulled the steers into the trailer. Fortunately, both officers
(1 male, 1 female) were part of our local horse patrol. When the steers
balked at going into the trailer, we fed the rope through the front, and
pulled. That little old female officer twisted the steer's tail, put her
shoulder to his rear, and pushed him in! What a gal! What a memory of your
25th!!!!Nancy in OK
