We are to love our neighbors as ourselves – and that standard of comparison, as ourselves , is often taken as an implicit command to love ourselves. On this view, the wording not only permits self-love but commands it; it not only sanctions self-esteem but reinforces its importance. On the face of it, however, self-love in Mark 12 is merely presupposed, not advocated. To read much of the contemporary literature, evangelical and otherwise, on self-esteem is to inhabit a domain a long way removed from the second great commandment.

Sign Language?? I am deaf...so I'm wondering if the sign language is so he
can understand more and be bilingual??
Both my daughter sign, but my youngest doesn't do as much as my oldest.

I'm one of the more boring members of the list. 2/3 acre in town, 1/2 mile
from teh Dairy Queen (closed).

I've got 3 boys, 17.5, almost 10 and 16 months. Chris, Sam and Caleb.
Homeschooling Sam, Chris is virtually finished and Caleb isn't started yet
(but he's learning sign language!)

I dream of moving to the country and having a little farm.

We usually do a big garden at a friend's house, but this year, he is letting
someone else use the spot! So, I'll spend more time at the pool and being
Mommy and less time canning and weeding.

Hey Barb (lurker) are you using all your space this year? Can I bum some
squash? Trade you some mint for yellow squash!

Mike (dh) bought an asphalt repair truck last week. He's going to be
repairing roads as soon as they can get it fixed and running and they learn
how to do it! It looks like this may be a really good thing for us. It
puts the farm on hold for a while but if it goes well I'll be able to buy a
nice house instead of a run down one. We'll see.
