Re: How does your garden grow?

Posted by: smarties <smarties@...>

Hi Julie,

We use to keep more to the public school schedule, but after 10yrs(wow I
can't believe it is that long) I have learned to be flexible. I have also
learned there is more to learning than doing book work. Yes, organized,
disciplined learning still is important, but it is not the only way to
learn. How old are your children. Perhaps you can start school this year
with a carpentry class, as you build your bird room. Last year we built a
small barn. My oldest daughter was right out there hammering nails as we
put up the walls. She so impressed our carpenter friend who was helping us
with her hard work, that he told her she could have a summer job with him
anytime if that was what she was interested in. Later after the walls and
roof were on, my hubby had to go back to work, his vacaction time was over,
and we still needed to build pens quickly, so that it would be ready when I
was planning on going to pick up our new goats. She and I finished all the
pens and feeders ourselves. It was wonderful to work with her.
I think homeschooling is about making our lives learning moments just as
much as studying books.
I hope I have been an encouragement.
