Re: I am thankful...

Love your update, Sarah, and all the praises and good reports contained within it!
Do y'all heat with wood at all? Dh is talking about getting a pellet stove in any future houses as he knows his ability cut wood won't last forever. We have a natural gas furnace in this house but don't use it often because of the expense. With us home nearly all day, it would cost a lot to run the furnace all day.
Your son's wedding plans sound fun 🙂 I love October weddings.
I am glad your husband's trip was changed and also glad I'm not in Iowa! We've had some snow this week and may still get more, but we've had small amounts so far. We did have another ice storm in our part of the state which affected quite a few roads and caused power outages. Today, the wind is blowing hard. Our forecast includes strong wind through at least Monday. I'm very impatient for winter to be over!
I've been keeping busy homeschooling my two teen sons, doing househouse chores and projects, and trying to keep up with my girls' schedule. I decided to start transferring our home videos to DVDs, so I brought home my mom's machine. It's not a job I enjoy so it's going slowly. I still intend to sort through family photos as well while I'm stuck inside.
This weekend, our area is hosting a Mobile Food Pack for Feed My Starving Children. Our goal is to pack 108,000 meals in six two-hour sessions Friday evening and Saturday. The event works best with 500 volunteers, and we've about reached that number. Mobile Food Packs are held all over the country all year long. They are lots of fun and provide "manna packs" to children who need them all over the world. If any of you are interested in participating, visit the FMSC site and look for a pack in your area. They are listed by state.
Hugs to all of you, and a big hug to Marci!

I am thankful for a warm house.  We’ve been having furnace problems
for the last month and planned to replace our furnace when the weather warmed
up.  Those plans were revised yesterday.  On Monday it quit and the
repairman came and got it going again, but it quit again and could not be
fixed.  The new one was installed yesterday.  The house was about 35
degrees from Monday night until yesterday afternoon!  Needless to say, I
was dressed in many layers.

I am also thankful that DH’s load of yogurt can’t be made until tomorrow
and delivered Saturday morning.  He normally would deliver in Nebraska
early this morning and would come home tonight after reloading.  Central
Iowa is expecting up to 8 inches of snow today and he would normally have to go
through that area.  He back haul is plastic packaging, so the trailer is
very light.  That’s not good during a snow/wind event.  Now he will be
coming home on Saturday when the roads should be fine!

Our son’s wedding plans are coming along.  They are having a John
Deere-themed wedding on October 17th.  I ordered my dress online (gulp! –
don’t know about that one) a couple of weeks ago.  My darling husband
suggested that I get a yellow dress because the bridesmaids are having green
ones!  Let’s just say that isn’t going to happen.

Our daughter got a schnauzer puppy this weekend.  She weighs 2 pounds,
9 ounces!  Just a tiny baby that would win over the hardest of
hearts.  I always said we would never have an inside dog, but she convinced
us otherwise.

Hope everyone is doing well.  Marci, think of you often and remember
you and everyone else in my prayers.  Love you all!
