After the respite, the Christians again came under persecution, this time from Marcus Aurelius, in A.D. 61. One of those who suffered this time was Polycarp, the venerable bishop pf Smyrna... As he entered the stadium with his guards, a voice from heaven was heard to say, 'Be strong, Polycarp, and play the man.' No one nearby saw anyone speaking but many people heard the voice. Brought before the tribunal and the crowd, Polycarp refused to deny Christ, although the proconsul begged him to 'consider yourself and have pity on your great age. Reproach Christ and I will release you.' Polycarp replied, 'Eighty-six years I have served Him, and He never once wronged me. How can I blaspheme my King, who saved me?' Threatened with wild beasts and fire, Polycarp stood his ground.

Still waiting to hear from Interim Police Chief about his findings. He said it would take three weeks, so we still have several more days to wait.
I was gone all last week to my cousin's...helped her dejunk her final two rooms. This week, I've been gone every day working to set up a huge indoor garage sale tomorrow to raise funds for my girls' mission trip. I have hauled away so much trash from donations we have received. People have given us some good stuff, but also lots of broken, dirty, and non-working items. We have to move everything out of the way Saturday afternoon so the warehouse owner can get his horse trailer inside the building, but after that, I'm done until September 19 when I will begin working to set up the final sale. I have to go to Roswell next Friday, but I think I will get to spend the rest of the week at home. I can't wait!
Please pray the girls' fundraiser sale is successful and that the police department gets to the truth of how those officers behaved. Thanks! Lisa NM
