In contrast to the two commands of Christ, the Pharisees had developed a system of 613 laws, 365 negative commands and 248 positive laws... By the time Christ came it had produced a heartless, cold, and arrogant brand of righteousness. As such, it contained at least ten tragic flaws. 1. New laws continually need to be invented for new situations. 2. Accountability to God is replaced by accountability to men. 3. It reduces a person's ability to personally discern. 4. It creates a judgmental spirit. 5. The Pharisees confused personal preferences with divine law. 6. It produces inconsistencies. 7. It created a false standard of righteousness. 8. It became a burden to the Jews. 9. It was strictly external. 10. It was rejected by Christ.

Dh and I have been discussing the menu. With the graduation at 5 or 5:30, guests coming to our house will not have had supper. But, since we won't be home until they all come with us, we need to have everything already cooked and ready to serve. We are talking about doing a spiral sliced ham in the crockpot along with potato and macaroni salads, veggies and dip, corn chips and pico, a sheet cake and cookies. I bought hams on sale and put in the freezer so it's probably one of the more economical meats we can serve. I'd rather not do the party that night because it's a Thursday and folks have to go to work and school the next day, but for out-of-town family who want to attend the graduation, we need to have the party that evening.

Tonight, I attended a Feed My Starving Children team leaders' meeting. We were finalizing plans for a fundraiser April 11. Tomorrow morning, the kids and I will help sort and pack Terracycle items which will earn additional money for FMSC. "Trash" items such as toothpaste tubes, dairy tubs, ink cartridges, cheese packages, and many more all earn cash for non-profit groups. 

The boys and I will have to do school once we're done with Terracycle. It was nice having no school last week, but we need to get busy with it again. Dh and I worked around here Saturday and today. I worked in the loft of our shop for several hours Saturday, and ended up with a majorly sore back from bending and stooping too much. Thankfully, my back is almost normal again.

This week is going to be another busy one!
