Hi Deanna,
We had one couple in our adoption ministry that were picked for a baby in
Colorado. The mom half of the couple took care of the baby for a weekend
waiting for approval to come home to New Mexico.
After a couple days of caring for the baby, she had to give the baby back to
the agency because the birthmom changed her mind. Well, at the time, it was
devastating to the couple. (They had grown children and one adopted young
son.) However, I always believed that God allowed it all to happen so that
my friend would be forever involved in the lives of that family. Sure
enough, as the years have gone by, she has prayed for them, the birthmom
calls with problems and praises, my friend's church held a baby shower and
all of the stuff was given to the birthmom for the baby....all kinds of love
and support have come from that very hurtful experience. My friends went on
to adopt another baby born a few months after the failed adoption, but there
was a reason it all happened and God's plan was still fulfilled.
