Re: Patricia/Once a Month Cooking

Posted by: stampinbookworm <stampinbookworm@...>

WOW!! I would love to have your recipes for the once a month cooking thing.
Actually ours would probably be more like twice a month because there is
only two of us and we live on a very limited grocery budget of 67 dollars a
month in food stamps. Normally I do add from my SSI approximately around
another 50 dollars for groceries but not this month because I had to pay a
bill that was way overdue and that took all our grocery money that we
had...we did manage to buy some steak on sale and had that on sunday...first
time in probably about a year since we even had steak. Mostly we have
chicken, very very few veggies and some fruits. I've been drinking more
water lately, buying bananas for me (I cannot eat the others like apples
unless its applesauce because of very few teeth left in my mouth) apples and
oranges for Naomi. I do need to supplement our diet with vitamin C but it is
sooo expensive and is not covered by medicaid. We are slowly changing our
diet to a better one....hopefully eventually we both will be a lot
healthier.
