I'm here! I've had one of those years so far & am looking forward to the second half, because it's got to be better than the first half.Jan - daughter Barbie (25) fell while ice skating & ruptured lower disc and is put on tramidol. π
Feb - water line broke in kitchen & flooded real wood floor that was brand new last year. Wood floor warps. π
March - bulged my disc in neck picking up something pretty light - you know how accidents happen - spent 9 days not even being able to move my arm or sleep decently, taking pain meds every 2 hours. Finally made a mad dash to South Dakota for a week to special doctors/chiropractors over there - came back just about good as gold. π Barbie still has pain running down her leg & MRI confirms ruptured disc. Local doc chooses to try 3 injections into her spine over the next month - they don't work. π
April - daughter Jenni (21) had TWO tonsil surgeries. The first one went ok, but 9 days later, she started coughing up blood clots (one almost the size of a tennis ball) & had to be rushed into emergency surgery - 1 1/2 hours away - at 2:30AM. π
May - Youngest daughter & handicapped son come down with pink eye. π Daughter Barbie can't get into see neurosurgeon until mid July, even with referral from local doc & MRI confirming ruptured disc. She starts having dizzy spells & passes out in back of church & we run her to ER, but they find nothing wrong. Comes to live with us because of the dizziness. Had 2 days in between rains to get the garden in and got it done! But, cut myself on a rusty stake & needed to go in for a tetanus shot. π
June - 4 days after passing out, daughter is feeling worse, pain running down arm (ruptured disc is in the lower back remember). She's fit to be tied & can't figure out what to do. I, Mom, calls specialist's hospital & gets her in yet that same day (tell me how I can get her in faster than a doctor's referral!!!!). Doc on call is a friend of the neurosurgeon and gets her an appointment with him the next day! π Neurosurgeon is upset because they normally get ruptured discs like this into surgery within 6 weeks, not 5 months. π Surgery is scheduled for a week later. π Surgeon is NOT happy after surgery because the disc had been bulged too long and had hardened. He wanted to just snip the bulging part out and the rest of the gel would just such back in. Instead, he had to "shatter" the disc out. Not sure yet if this means a disc replacement in her future or not. π She comes back to live with us after surgery.
Later in June - daughter moves back to her house, but starts having highs & lows & severe mood swings & dizziness & mini blackouts & hot & cold flashes. A few hours of research later, and it's determined that since she had been on tramidol for 5 months, and it's a man made HEROIN, she had become addicted (the dizziness & passing out & even the pain running down her arm that she experienced before surgery are side effects of being on this drug) and was going through withdrawal. π She comes to live with us again. Made a SECOND mad dash run to South Dakota for a week to have the doctors there help her detox. "Spitting tacks mad" that the local doc here let her stay on this stuff that long when she HAD to know she was getting addicted. This is a pet peeve of mine now, after all of the news articles I've found this last month on Oxycodone, Hydrocodon, Tramidol, etc (all in the same man made heroin family called Opieds) addiction. π
July - daughter Jenni graduates from Massage school & moves into town to set up her own business in a house she's renting. π Bob's sister comes for a 2 week visit to live with us. π Barbie moves back to her house and only occasionally calls with mood swings and terrifying dreams to talk through, so she is doing better. π I'm back to working out and not bothered one bit by my bulging disc earlier in the year. π Youngest daughter goes on a trip with church youth group to Colorado Christian University in Denver for a week & returns safely. π However, her 17 year old friend runs through a stop sign, killing herself & a motorcyclist while she's gone. π My 30 year class reunion goes off without a hitch & I get to see some friends I haven't seen since we graduated. π Started ordering my homeschooling curriculum today. π However, it's my last year of homeschooling - my baby's a senior! π
Life is getting back to normal. π
