Re: Re: another wheat question

Marilyn,

You will be able to grow Prairie Gold if you live in a place that has good
cold winters. The winter wheat must be planted in the fall and allowed to
winter over in the cold weather. I have no idea where you live so you will
need to check with your local seed supplier to find out if it will grow in
your area. Even if it does grow, you may wish to check to see where the
nearest mill is located that can triple clean the wheat for you. We have
had friends grow their own wheat only to find that when it was processed it
was so full of pebbles and trash that they spent more time cleaning it than
grinding it. After having cleaned one of the 50lbs bags they graciously
gave me, I can tell you it's alot of work. If you use an electric grain
mill and you happen to get a pebble into it by accident...your mill is
toast. It destroys the burrs in the mill. When I sold mills, the
warranties did not cover a mill destroyed garbage in the wheat...Deanna
