MaryLynn, Glad you are not lurking anymore, it is nice to hear from you! Of
course I will pray for you and your ministry in the childbirth area. I wish
you were here when I had mine!! LOL! As far as clothing I wear, MOST of
the time I wear dresses (jumpers mainly). Being I do work side by side with
my hubby (plumbing) on some of the jobs I wear jeans. I can not stand to
wear jeans, I feel yucky and very immodest and shameful I guess when I do. I
would love to find something different to wear. I do wear larger shirts to
cover my behind, etc, when I do, but still feel yucky. I know the Lord is
speaking to me about that issue. I am searching for an alternative. When we
are sliding under someones house to put in plumbing or fix the sewage leaks
dresses just are not practical. I guess I just feel sloppy too when I don't
wear a dress. I think jeans really make people look where they shouldn't be
looking. I know some people might not agree with me on that and that is ok.
I agree 100% that the clothing the kids wear today is discusting. I am
always shocked by what my little neices (11 and 9) are wearing. The other
day when I saw them one had on some tight stretchy pants that clung down her
behind and a short shirt (leapord print) that exposed her belly, her arms,
and no bra on (she is starting to develop). She had on leopard printed high
heel shoes too. The other one had on short Daisy Duke type shorts, and a
halter top. These girls are very very pretty girls who attract alot of
attention as they are not shy. They have posters all over their rooms of
different singers that are all wearing real immodest clothing. I am not
tattling on my neices, but I am afraid it is the norm with girls their ages.
I find it really sad. I do not have daughters but feel that my sons need
extra protection because of the clothing choices that are out there right
now. Clothing issues are a real biggie for me. I feel that each one of us is
responsible for not causing others to stumble and I would hate to know about
all the stumbling I caused as a young worldly teenager myself. It is
scarey, but know that our Lord forgives too.
I wish there was an easy answer for you and your daughters. If the Lord ever
blesses us with a daughter I will try my best to keep her in modest clothes
and to have total respect for herself and for others in her clothing
choices. I know it wouldnt be easy, but I would do my best anyways. God
bless you, Julie
