Leacy,That wasn't so funny.
I happened to think the same thing when I was growing up.
Having only RIR's, I still suspect fowl play with the white eggs!!

eggs - the color of eggs funny storyBut how about when a brown egg isn't brown, but
white?
Some of our brown eggs look almost pink! A very rosy
brown. This reminds me of a funny story I just have to share. A few
weekendsago we went camping with a few other couples and took eggs to share
witheveryone. My husband made sure that each dozen had some white,
brown, and green eggs before he handed each family their dozen freshly laid
eggs.
Now we always expect some surprised reactions to the green eggs, lots
ofpeople have never seen eggs from an araucana chicken. In fact
theyalways start a fun conversation, which is why he made sure everyone
gotsome. So imagine OUR surprise when one lady opens up her carton
of eggsand with honest astonishment says "WHITE eggs? You mean they LAY
whiteeggs??" Well! We were just dumbfounded, we looked at
each other, andthen at her, and finally my husband said "surely you've seen white
eggsbefore?" to which she replied "Of COURSE I've SEEN
white eggs!" We arereally confused at this point, so my husband asked "How did you think
they got them white?" and she said "Why I thought they were
bleached!"Everybody got a big kick out of that. Never heard that
before! And I, who usually feels like a misplaced city girl, didn't feel like
such a city girl after all!
