Lisa, it is funny how alike we sound. We too had the little school room at
home in the beginning. =) We also did not know of all the resources and
philosophies of debt free, courtship, etc. However, as we heard and
learned, we realized this was the path we are to take. We have done very
little "formal schooling" the last 4 years. There has been lots of life
though. We just had our son tested this summer to see where he was. We
were all amazed at how well he scored. His 3 weak areas were ones I could
have told you about. The one is just a lazy area for him (capitalization).
He knows what is right and if he takes the time, he does it right (or has to
correct it), but if he is in a hurry...... Anyway, this is his last year
of what we "have to do" and we are still doing very little "formal
schooling". I just read a great article in the current Home School Digest
about character training FIRST and then the academics later. Sure wish I
