Re: sewing machines

Posted by: amazinggraze <amazinggraze@...>

I had 3 machines. All Singers. The newest one was the one I sewed my skirt
on for home ec in 8th grade. 🙂 Another one was a treadle machine made in
1907. I have still not gotten the hang of it though. The third was a
featherweight machine made 10 years to the day before I was born. It only
goes backwards and forwards. This is what I use. I got rid of the newer
one. I found that it works so much better than any of the new ones I have
tried. I did find a button hole attachment for it at an antique store. It
makes the prettiest button holes, I have ever seen. I also found a zigzag
attachment for it. It moves the material back and forth. The reason I am
saying all of this is, don't be put off by older machines. Especially from
the 60s back. They are good machines.

Subject: [HomeSteadHeaven] sewing machines

Ok, all you sewing buffs out there. I am going to start sewing again and do
not want to use my old sewing machines because I always end up with problems
with them and then I get "out of the mood". What is your favorite sewing
machine? I am ready to pay a sizable amount if I have too (would not like to
tho 🙂 Any suggestions?? Thanks much and God bless everyone!! Julie
