This is the first year we have heard or seen a canyon wren here in Mariposa.  I didn’t recognize the beautiful cascading melody and I was very curious to spot the bird which seems shy, but comes to sing for us every morning.  I suspect there is a nest somewhere.  We haven’t seen the female.

 

This sounds just like ours.  He was quite interesed in the recording and was answering it today and coming in closer.
