Re: Unsubbing...just for a bit!:o)

Hi Erin

One of the first things we did when we moved to our place here California was put up a fence to keep the deer out. They will eat almost anything! Dogs might deter them some, but a fence is the best way to deal with them. We have found that they eat apples, grapevines, corn, roses (thorns and all) and almost all vegetables, and flowers. Don't even bother with deterrents like blood meal etc.

I am so happy for you and your little family! You will love your new life--challenges and all! 🙂 Kathie

Hello Ladies!

While I have primarily been just a lurker, I have enjoyed all of your
discussions here. I am going to have to unsubscribe, but just for
several weeks as we will finally be moving into our newly built home
on a few acres!!! The date for move in is set for August 14th and we
have plenty of packing and preparation to do. We will also have to
switch servers as we will be so rural, that only one,
glacierview.net, has any local access numbers. Our property is so
beautiful, my daughters refer to it as their little house in the big
woods!:o) This is very exciting, the Lord has truly blessed us with
the desires of our hearts!! We are entirely secluded without any
surrounding neighbors, and my what a large amount of work awaits us!!

I do have a question before I unsubb...

I have several flower bowls and hanging baskets that just huge, and
very beautiful. We have large amounts of deer that browse our
property, and my question is, will they eat all my flowers?? I am
just beginning my homesteading journey, so please forgive me if this
seems like a silly question to you all! How do you deter them, and
other animals, from your gardens as well? Is there certain things
that they just won't eat?

My hubby says I need to unsubb from all my egroups by this next week,
so I will wait until I recieve some suggestions from all of you
experianced homesteaders!! When I re-subscribe, you bet I will have
quite a few questions for everyone and no longer be in my lurker
mode. I am looking forward to hearing everyones advice!!
