Thanks for the warm welcome! Where at in WA does your friend live?
We didn't plant a garden this year where we are at now. We knew we would be moving either in June or July. Our property has alot of work to be done, so no garden there this year as well.:o( But at least we will be moving into the area of our dreams, out in the middle of nowhere! The Lord has blessed us so much, with opening the doors for this move to happen. The oppourtunity for use to buy this land, and have a small house built, literally fell into our laps! The results of the power of some serious prayers. Friends are going to give us some fruits and veggies from their gardens, and I will probably hit the U-pick farms around here for my canning as well. The energy crisis here is going up another 40% in October and we are trying to do all we can now, to brace ourselves. Heating with wood only will help, possibly oil lamps, canning and once a month bulk shopping/cooking are ways that I will try to help out with my family. Going from a small rent payment to a average(to us it's huge!) house payment is also going to be an adjustment. I look forward to hearing all of your ideas and suggestions on becoming more self sufficient. How many of you use oil lamps, and if so, what kinds of oil do you use and what are the different kinds of lamps that are best? Thanks in advance!
