Re: [HomeSteadHeaven]cleaning ideas

My hardest cleaning job is the miniblinds. Does anybody have an easy way to
clean them?
Put them in the bathtub. You can soak them in soapy water for a few minutes
before scrubbing away the dirt. Not to mention the dirty water can simply
run down the drain.

Borax:
1. 1/2c borax + 1gal hot water = germicide

Vinegar:
1. 1:1 white vinegar and water = glass cleaner
2. Clean copper with lemon juice, hot vinegar, and salt solution.
3. Unclog drains with 1/4c baking soda poured down drain. Follow with 1/2c
vinegar. Cover drain until fizzing stops, then flush with lots of hot water.

Washing soda:
1. 1/2c dissolved in 1gal of water = all purpose cleaner (except aluminum)
2. Clean aluminum by polishing with lemon juice, then rinse with warm water.

Baking soda:
1. Sprinkle baking soda or salt on surface needing an abrasive cleaner.
Great for pots and pans too.
2. Drain cleaner (slow drain) 1/2c baking soda, 1/2c salt, and 1/8c cream of
tartar. Pour down drain, and follow with hot water.
3. Polish silver by lining a pan with foil. Mix 1:1 baking soda and salt.
Put in pan, then fill with very warm water. Soak silverware until tarnish
disappears.

I'm sure some of you have many more ideas. I'd love it if you shared them.

Jenn
