I'll send the next one out in about two weeks.I just wanted to let you all know that I will be having thyroid surgery tomorrow morning at 10:15. Dr. Ivan Rosado will be removing at least the left half, where the big old cyst is. If the pathologist determines that anything looks malignant, the whole thing will come out. I should be home early Saturday afternoon. Thanks in advance to the Graham, Koller, Klinect and DeGeus families for serving us in very practical ways during this time. (If I have left anyone off this list, please forgive me!) My husband Thad has been awesome. He is such a good balance for me, because I often forget to follow up on details and he is very meticulous with them. He's been with me faithfully "in sickness and in health" for over 18 years! My prayer requests for surgery are:
- that the surgeon would take everything out that needs to be out, and leave everything in that needs to be in
- that my laryngeal cords will remain intact, without any impairment of my voice
- that I will have a healthy and quick recovery (a small inconspicuous scar would be a plus!)
- that the remainder of my thyroid will produce enough hormone that I won't need lifetime supplementation
- that my children will cooperate with those who are caring for them
- that most of all and no matter how the other things turn out, I will have opportunities to share the glory of a Sovereign God.
I'm actually looking forward to a day of quiet recovery in the hospital, because I just got an Above Rubies magazine, A Family Fun magazine, and the Florida Parent Educators Association convention schedule in my mail today!Speaking of conventions, I just got word from my friend Doreen Morgan of Faithful Bookshop (http://www.faithfulbookshop.com/) that she will sell my books at the second largest home school convention in America (Arlington, Texas) on May 7-8. Doreen actually carries a full selection of home school materials from many publishers, but the convention organizers asked her to submit samples of materials by several self-published authors to do a specialty booth. I am grateful that they approved my materials for sale! (Thanks, Doreen!)And finally, upcoming themes of the Hope Chest are:
- Reviews of several educational resources for children
- An interview with the Phillips family (Benny, Sheree and some of their kids) about the teen and young adult years
- Purity & courtship (resources, web sites, etc.) Send me your ideas on this one!
I'll close with a saying that my Aunt Nancy uses:"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a great battle..."
