Re: Going after them

Don't chase 'em, replace 'em.
It's been my experience that a member like that will come back and when they get mad again, they create a bigger stink.
You have to think of the good of the entire congregation. If a person is unhappy, they will probably create division in the church. If you have to smooth them over to bring them back, they'll just become more tyrannical the next time - kind of like a little child.

Subject: [PastorMail] Going after them
Brethren,
I ask this question not to usher a debate but to get some insights from the more experienced.
Should the pastor go after that member (sheep) who has gotten mad and resigned just as he would a sheep who has become slothful and careless?
I'm just wondering if ever person who has made a profession of faith and worked in church and been difficult to work with should be gone after when it may be God saying this person has held back the church long enough, he is gone now get on to the task.
I know he needs ministering too. If he has gone to another church but not yet joined should the pastor of that church seek to minister.
Perhaps answering me direct would be preferred rather than taking a chance on opening up a debate. I'm not interested in debating just your insights.
