I am also reading another of Cymbala's books, "The Church God Blesses".
We are building our prayer ministry at the current church. However, we have experienced very vibrant prayer ministries in our previous 3 churches. 2 of which experienced tremendous numerical growth even after the prayer seems to cease. The third did not explode numerically, but the miracles which occurred actually made the paper (of course they did not call them miracles).
We have used a portion of the book "The Sons of Isssachar" in order to begin the current prayer thrust and training. We are in the midst of a 13 week prayer boot camp with a clear and established intent of moving from sporadic personal prayer into the realm of prophetic intercession and beyond that to warfare prayer, warfare, and deliverance. We are having a alright turn out from our leaders but some of the members have grabbed hold of it. We have it on Friday nights and I believe it is setting the stage for God to really move on some issues.
I also am an advocate of "The God Chasers" and "The Purpose Driven Church". When portions of the 5 books I have mentioned here are strategically balanced and put together, I believe it will provide a spring board for purposeful intercession and church growth (spiritually first and numerically maybe).

Hello Folks!
I'm reading Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire, and I do not wish to start an argument on the value of Jim Cymbala's book. However, my question is this:
Have any of you implemented any of Jim Cymbala's thoughts on prayer into your own ministries? And a follow up question - If you have large numbers of people attending prayer meeting, how did you get them there?
While I don't agree with everything Cymbala says, I see some real value here.
