Re: missing ingredient

Posted by: grosey2 <grosey2@...>

I heard something interesting from Dr. Tom Elliff concerning commitment. He spoke a a Bible study on 2Tim 1 "I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which i've committed unto Him against that day."
Notice the goal...committing to Him.
Notice the method..
You got to know something about God.
You got to believe something about God.

The application is that the more that we know of God in His Person, His loe, His grace, His Wisdom, His Power,
the more we will be willing to believe in Him (Faith cometh through hearing and hearing by the word of Christ..)
the more we will be willing to commit ourseves to Him.

Every Blessing from sunny Australia... (its winter here tomorrow and the temperatures are getting below 75F. ,,,, its cold)

Subject: [PastorMail] missing ingredient

Jerry

Great message and right to the heart of what is needed in the lives of Christians who compose to create the Church.  I believe we as ministers/preachers/pastors are at times eager to encourage "commitment" to attendance ... knowing it is good for others, be it preaching, worship, sunday school, etc.  But as you have pointed out ... if the real commitment does not take us into a deeper life walk with Christ ... the attendance will not cut it alone.

Thanks so much for sharing!  I will print this one off and tuck away and or share it with several in the church I pastor.
