Re: staff/deacons

Posted by: grosey2 <grosey2@...>

Dear Bob and gentlemen,
I came across some good materials on Deacons and elders etc. from a Baptist prespective from Dever's capitol Hill Bap org site.

It is called a Display of God's Glory and is a down;loadable book on church polity.

Every Blessing,
Steve

Hello

If you were going to have a pastor/deacon retreat for the purpose of looking at the biblical roles of each and to consider the ministry of the church and how to enlarge them ... what type of agenda schedule would you consider?

These are some of the questions I have thought of:

1. Biblical Models: Pastor & Deacons
2. How we view ourselves?
3. How does the body (at local church) view us?
4. How effective & Ineffective are we?
5. What ministries are we currently involved in?
6. What ministries should we be involved in?
7. What ministries do we need to begin?

On May 18th I will be having a one day retreat ... away from the church building ... with the deacons.  With some recent events taking place in church life I believe we have a great opportunity to have a new start.

I would very much like your input ....

What is the role of a deacon biblically?
What is the role of a pastor biblically?

I know of the scriptural texts ... but perhaps I am over looking some scriptures and understanding.  Would like your input as pastors ... and as some of you who have served as both.
