I read a classic illustration the other day from FW Boreham. Our brothers
illustration prompted me:He spoke of a fellow who was renting a house by a river, a beautiful place
to raise a family. It had a great cellar, in which he housed his prize
chickens. One day a one in 40 year flood came up and filled his cellar. The
chooks drowned. He grew so angry he told the Real Estate agent . "I'm
moving! All my prize chickens have drowned. What else would you expect me
to do?" The Real Estate agent wisely said "Try Ducks!"
When we as pastors strike a difficult church member, we feel like quitting.
But look at all the blessings we miss out on by moving (if you had a house
by a river, your kids would miss growing up by the river, you'd miss
throwing a line in evrey day.) We tend to move so fast when there's a little
damp in the congregation that we miss out on all the rich blessings that we
have in that location. Our kids lose their school friends, and we miss the
blessings of growing through difficulties.----- Original Message -----
