re: Potassium question

Posted by: empalo <empalo@...>

Greetings in the Lord,

Could your dear friend be on any diuretics for blood pressure ? These drugs often given to help the blood pressure
actually flush potassium out of the body and potassium is needed to keep blood pressure under control.
Lean meats, dried apricots, cantaloupe, lima beans and potatoes are all loaded with potassium if you are wishing
to increase the amount ingested.
Potassium intake needs in older folks is often increased in the heat. A nice orange provides 263 milligrams of
potassium.
Canned veggies destroy the natural potassium occuring in that plant.

In my books it says anywhere between 2-6 grams a day is a good dose. Somewhere around 2,500 milligrams.
Magnesium works well for heart problems and stress related problems so it is often used with potassium as it
compliments it.
