We will keep Tennessee in mind. I've met lots of ladies there. One of our
concerns about TN is that it is a southern state and with an interracial
family, we have to have an idea what to expect. I had a lady in Virginia
tell me that her church would welcome us, but that other people may not be
so welcoming. We experience almost no problems here, no one seems to care
about race as there are Native Americans, Hispanics, and Caucasians as the
three main groups in New Mexico. There are many mixtures and of course,
people of many other races and everyone comes up smiling to us in the store
telling us how cute the kids are and that kind of thing. No one is upset or
giving us dirty looks because we are white parents with black children. What
is your take on interracial families in TN? I think our only other concern
would be the heat and humidity...how bad is it? That sounds like such a
wimpy question, but after 25 years of living with no humidity and cool
evenings even when there is a hot day, my body is not used to intense heat.
I have gotten sick before because of heat, tolerate cold much better, so
fill me in on that when you can. It sounds silly to say we're looking for an
area near a Mennonite church, especially when we've never been to one yet,
but I would like one close enough that we can attend if the Lord leads us to
do so. My older boys want to live where there's lots of snow as they are
both snowboarders, but for dh, the little children, and me, that is not a
concern.
