Re(3): [Idea-Central] Believe it or Not!

I am deeply concerned by the response to the response. That story IS an
urban legend. I am not debating whether or not the story in Joshua is true.
I believe it is. However, when we as Christians just repeat any story we
hear without checking the validity, we make the entire Christian faith look
stupid. When Bob warned us that it was an urban legend he was not
questioning your faith in the Bible but in the story in the email; he was
trying to keep you from being embarrassed by your naiveté. If you ONLY
believe Christian sites, here is the story debunked by two Christian urban
legend sites:

Personally, I find the SNOPES site to be awesome for checking the validity
of all the hoaxes I receive by email. I agree that their tone can be
non-Christian, but that has nothing to do with their ability to debunk urban
legends. There are plenty more non-Christian sites that will verify that
this story is untrue. Let's start with NASA themselves:

Then there is this site, another well-respected debunker of myth:

I don't mean to sound harsh about this. I appreciate the great inspirations
and ideas I get from this list. I don't mind when something untrue is sent
by a well-meaning Christian. It happens. I got involved in debunking urban
legends myself after forwarding along a couple that were untrue. I must get
300 emails per week and it is amazing some of the stuff that people just
pass along. So I check it out for myself. I really appreciated the message
from Bob warning us all. While I knew that this story was untrue right
away, I didn't see it as quickly as he did and people need to be warned
before they forward it any farther. Or worse, as he said, used it in a
sermon. We do not build the case for Christianity or the Bible by
embellishing on it - the truth is enough!

Thanks for letting me share my two cents ... Long live the truth!

Sometimes the going is slow. Yet the important thing is not to stop. Even
a little progress is an advance in the right direction, and anyone can make
a little progress.
