We must've had our youngest kids at the same age. I AM 48 now and my
youngest, Julie, is 18 and is leaving for college on Saturday. DD#2 goes on
Sunday, but is coming Saturday to help her little sis move in. Katie and her
hubby will be coming to move Julie too!!And where have these years gone? I've got about 3 different books about
empty nest stuff (incl Beth Moore's), but I haven't read them yet. Right now
I'm hard-pressed to get in my QT these days with all the last-minute college
shopping!!I'm also trying to get the house somewhat organized so that when Jim and I
come home exhausted on Sunday night, we don't come home to an empty nest
which more resembles a pig-sty. Jim said this morning that he's getting
excited for Julie - she's really enjoying organizing all her stuff and
talking to Kimmie about college and stuff. I printed out the syllabus for
her CORE class (English, writing, theology, kinda all rolled into one) and I
gave it to her and I told her that if I can spend all these hours shopping,
then she can spend a bit of time reading ahead! She already has a couple of
the books, plus they have to read the first 12 chapters of Genesis.Fortunately, we got her a Christian teacher for this course!! It's someone
Katie and Kimmie know and he's excellent.Prayer request - Julie is my youngest and also the only shy one in the
family. She has a strong faith, but doesn't talk about it much. I'm praying
that she meets lots of nice Christian girls! The school is affiliated with
the Lutheran church, and there's plenty of Christian stuff to be involved in
(IVCF, mid-week contemporary praise service, daily chapels, etc), but she
needs solid Christian friends that will help her grow. I know that her
sister will bring some kids right to her door , but I want her to be able
to make some on her own too. Her roommate is a very nice girl that Julie
knew back in preschool, but then she moved away. We ran into the girl at the
university last spring before Julie had made her decision! The girl said
"Oh, we just HAVE to room together if you come here!".Anyway, enough chattering for now.
Oh, at Family Christian Stores, I got Beth Moore's new book (about Paul) for
our church library. I do get to make some executive decisions.
Actually, I still bought a lot of books for myself - either stuff I know that
the head library person wouldn't want to buy right now, or something I just
have to have my own copy of!Do you get Moody Radio? On MidDay Connection tomorrow (Noon Central time),
they're having the authors of this book on tomorrow:Women's Bible Journal : Ephesians (Women's Bible Journal, 1)
