thought she would like Harry P, but we questioned whether it would be a good
thing for her to read. SO I purchased it and read it myself. I thought is was
OK. The magic was not demonic to me and it is a funny book. Well, we read it
aloud as a family and by the time we got to the end I had an uneasy feeling
about it. DH later bought book 2, but we have never read it. My dd is very
grounded (my d is not saved yet) and I really think she could read this and
hold on to her faith, but still.... we decided it was best to not take a
chance that anything from those books could stick with us and cause trouble.As a teen (and really as a child too) my folks had a read whatever attitude
-- they trusted me to only pick good stuff. Well that was not the case .. I
read lots of stuff I shouldn't have... I read V.C. Andrews (Flower s in the
Attic Series) and John Saul (lots of dark stuff there). I read it all with a
grain of salt and never thought it effected me. Then a few years ago I was
working through a book that dealt with a stronghold I battle. One of the
steps was to pray for God to show you areas where demonic thoughts, etc.,
might have entered your mind. God reminded me of those books and I realized
that I had allowed those thoughts into my mind and they were still there. I
hope this makes some kind of sense!I guess I am just trying to say it is better to avoid certain books instead
of taking the chance that they might cause you trouble down the road!Barb C.
