[Recording] Minimizing j-bass hum

Is there an FAQ somewhere with suggestions on how to minimize hum from a Jazz bass? I mean, apart from shielding and grounding the bass (already done), or putting both pickups on full volume (not the right sound for this material).

I've discovered that my Schecter J-copy hums more in my friend's studio than elsewhere. That's sort of a bummer -- the one place where it really has to be silent, is where it's the noisiest.
