S.O.S. - LIST OF SENATORS

Posted by: jhbreneman <jhbreneman@...>

THE FEDERAL MARRIAGE AMENDMENT

(Clear directions on how you can make a difference for the future of

the USA, your children and grandchildren).

Dear Ladies,

This is a special S.O.S. e-mail to let you know where your two Senators stand on the Federal Marriage Amendment, which expected to be up for a vote on Wednesday, July 14 - in less than a week.  Those of you in other countries, please pray for America's stand on marriage especially this week and next - especially that Christians in our land will call their own Senators as well as all those who are undecided, and they will awaken to the seriousness of this family issue.  Senators are appalled that they have not been hearing from more Christians when marriage is under such an attack!  The names and numbers are below.  And don't forget to pray!

God bless you all! ~ Lois

UPDATE ON VIRGINIA SENATORS ~

SENATOR WARNER STILL UNDECIDED ~ LET'S HELP HIM CHANGE HIS MIND!

Since many of you are from the beautiful state of Virginia, let me urge you to call Senator John Warner, who is still undecided on the Federal Marriage Amendment!  Please call both of his numbers (below) every day, until you hear that he has changed his mind.  The good news is that his phone lines have been busier than usual, since Focus on the Family's yet another urgent plea to call our Senators.  Please keep trying.  It could mean the future of our country for our children and grandchildren.
The phone number to Senator Warner's D.C. office is 202 224-2023.
Senator Warner's Roanoke number is 540-857-2676.
Senator Warner's E-mail address: [email protected]
Call your library for a local number if you are living in other vicinities of Virginia.

A SENATOR WHO CHANGED HIS MIND BECAUSE OF PHONE CALLS
Let me share with you that phone calls DO make a difference!  Senator George Allen had been undecided until very recently.  I called his office at least five times and he was taking heat at the same time from other voters who held him to his conservative promises.  Guess what?  He recently changed his mind!   Please call Senator Allen and thank him for his courageous stand (D.C. ~ 202-224-4024).  (In Roanoke, VA ~ 540-772-4236)

To the Honorable Senator __________:

As a United States Senator, please support and protect the traditional, common sense definition of marriage in law as only a legal union between one man and one woman as husband and wife.

While it may be your hope that the existing Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) could accomplish this goal, I hope you realize that recent events and future court decisions indicate that a constitutional amendment is needed to protect the rights of the people in the States to define the institution of marriage.

Because of that, please co-sponsor and vote for the Federal Marriage Amendment to the United States Constitution when the Senate considers one very shortly - this month.

Very sincerely,
______________

GRASSFIRE "SAVE MARRIAGE"

7/7/04

As a key component of Grassfire's "Save Marriage" team, we wanted to alert you to the very latest in the debate over Alliance For Marriage's federal marriage amendment--especially
as we enter into its most critical phase.

On Monday, July 12, we are thrilled to announce that your petition will featured at a major press conference taking place in the U.S. Capitol!

The reason this amazing event is even happening is because our petition is the only official petition of the drafter of the Federal Marriage Amendment--AFM.

In fact, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist--the very man initiating the vote one week from today--will be there to accept your petitions and those of hundreds of thousands of other Americans whose efforts have helped bring about this historic vote on our amendment.

+ + Personal delivery of your petition to your senator!

Then, immediately following our news conference and petition presentation at the Capitol, your petitions will be hand-delivered to each of the 100 Senate offices. In fact, we have arranged to have Senate staffers actually deliver these petitions on your behalf!

That means your petition will be delivered to your Senator by a senate staffer--while the marriage debate is under way on the Senate floor!

Your Save Marriage petition will literally be at the forefront of the marriage debate!

+ + 48 Hours to rally a nation!

In order to begin processing the petitions for delivery, Grassfire must have the petitions to be in place by midnight Thursday.

That means in the next 48 hours we need to hear from every American who wants to be represented at this historic news conference.

Right now, we have 507,521 signers. But we are hoping to add 50,000 new signers over the next 48 hours so we can send Senator Frist and every other Senator as strong a message as possible.

+ + Forward this message to your friends!

With your help we can rally the extra support we need and make the kind of impact necessary on Monday. Please notify your friends and urge them to sign the official Save Marriage
petition:

http://www.grassfire.net/32/petition.asp?PID=5943367

And make sure you tell them that their petitions can be part of this historic news conference and presentation if they sign right away.

We appreciate your dedication and commitment to saving marriage.

Grassfire.org Alliance

P.S. Next Monday is an opportunity for the American people to step up and be heard. Help us resonate our message throughout the nation. Use these next 48 hours to rally critically needed extra support. Forward this message to your friends, family and church leaders.

LONG DISTANCE RATES OF 2.9 CENTS PER MINUTE
(A money-saving tip in making long distance calls.  You can start this today.)

You go online at http://www.onesuite.com and pay by credit card.  Onesuite offers all calls in the USA at just 2.9 cents per minute.  Overseas rates are very good too.  You pay up front for a calling card number by going to the website.  We have been using it for several months.

Onesuite.com is good, not only in the low rate per minute, but in that there is no minimum charge, unlike World X-Change, which we had been using at 4 cents per minute.  They charged a 10 minute minimum (40 cents) if an answering machine picked up, so that was the downfall with that service.  Onesuite.com charges for only one minute if that happens!  Nice!  I also like it when calling Senators and House Representatives, etc., b/c it is just 3 cents per call!  Well, 2.9 cents!

This calling card number can be carried in your purse or memorized to use when on trips from a friend's home, though there is an extra charge when using a pay phone.

You just go to http://www.onesuite.com and pay by credit card in segments of $10.  When that runs low, just add another $10.  Of course, several in the family can use that number -- even a son or daughter in college.  You get the 800 number (1-800-315-9339) plus your pin number, which will have your AC, phone number and a four digit number which is to be your secret, so others don't use it, of course.  You will be asked to give two personal codes to go into the site, which you will need to check the phone calls made from that number as well as to add more minutes.

The only thing I don't like about onesuite is the two long sets of numbers that one has to dial before the number you are calling.  However, if you have a phone with memory (unlike the memory of some of us older people!), that function saves lots of time!
