JEHOVAH-MEKADDESHCEM

Lev. 20:6-8
And the
soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go
a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut
him off from among his people.
7 Sanctify yourselves therefore, and be ye holy: for I am the
LORD
your God.
8 And ye shall keep my
statutes, and do them:
I am the LORD which sanctify you.

JEHOVAH-MEKADDESHCEM
=
“the LORD that doth Sanctify.”
Used 7 times in Leviticus.

SANCTIFIED
TO KEEP
– Lev. 20:8 And ye shall keep my statutes, and do them: I am the
LORD which sanctify you.

1. Obedience to the LORD is
possible because of the operation of the LORD.

2. The measure of our
sanctification is gauged by our obedience.

SANCTIFIED
TO PURITY
Lev. 21:7-8 They shall not take a wife that is a whore, or
profane; neither shall they take a woman put away from her husband: for he is
holy unto his God.
8 Thou shalt sanctify him there-fore; for he offereth the bread of thy
God: he shall be holy unto thee: for I the LORD, which sanctify you, am Holy.

1. The priest was prohibited
from taking to wife an impure woman.

2. A twofold reason was given.

a. because “he is holy unto God” – 2Cor. 6:17-18 Where-fore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing;
and I will receive you,
18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and
daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

b. and because of what Jehovah
is, for He says, “For I The LORD, which
sanctify  you, am holy”
Lev. 21:7-8
above.

SANCTIFIED
TO GOD
Lev. 21:14-15 A widow, or a divorced woman, or profane, or an
harlot, these shall he not take: but he shall take a virgin of his own people
to wife.
15 Neither
shall he profane his seed among his people: for I the LORD do sanctify him.

1. The command about the pure
woman for a wife is repeated.

2. It might be all right for
anyone else to marry an impure person, but not for a priest – 2Cor. 6:14 Be ye not unequally yoked together with
unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unright-eousness? and
what communion hath light with darkness?

3. He was not to “profane his seed among his people, for I the LORD
do sanctify them”
– Lev. 21:15 above.

4. A soul sanctified to the
LORD, is one who is wholly for the LORD.

5. Hence, he cannot do what
would be allowable in others.

SANCTIFIED TO DISTINGUISH Lev. 22:8-9 That which dieth of itself, or
is torn with beasts, he shall not eat to defile himself therewith: I am the
LORD.  9
They shall therefore keep mine ordinance, lest they bear sin for it, and
die therefore, if they profane it: I the LORD do sanctify them.

1. The priest was not allowed
to eat anything “which dieth of itself.”

2. “Nor that was torn by beast.”

a. these would still have the
blood in them and were prohibited.

3. That which disease had
touched, or violence seized, was not to be eaten.

4. The sanctified soul cannot
feed upon the diseased and dead things of the world.

5. Nor violent things of any
sin or angry saint.

6. He feeds upon the
prescribed Christ of the Word and things of the Spirit of Peace – Lev. 22:8-9 above.

SANCTIFIED
TO GUIDE
Lev. 22:15-16
They shall not profane the holy things of the
people of Israel, which they contribute to the LORD,
16 and so cause them to bear iniquity and guilt, by
eating their holy things: for I am the LORD who sanctifies them.”

1. Should a man “unwittingly” eat of the
holy bread which was for the priest and his family, then the priest had – to
tell him of his fault.

a. and to tell him what to do.

2. For such were not to
profane the holy things of the children of Israel, which they shall offer unto
the LORD.

SANCTIFIED
TO REMEMBER
Lev. 22:32-33 Neither shall ye profane my holy name; but I will
be hallowed among the children of Israel: I am the LORD which hallow you,
33 That brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be
your God: I am the LORD.

1. Hallow = is the same word
rendered sanctify in the other Scriptures used.

2. Lev. 22:33 “That brought you out of the land of Egypt, to be your God.”

3. Israel was redeemed [bought back] by Jehovah.

4. Hence, God had a right to
all He asked from them.

5. Heb.
12:14

Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the
Lord:
