A couple of years ago I played an arrangement of "What Child is this?" (may favorite Christmas carol) for solo guitar for our Christmas program at church. The arrangement that I used was actually an arrangement of the folk song "Greensleeves", which is actually the melody for "What Child". So, I have a question... I'm an electric guitar player mainly. There is an instrumental piece that was written for electric guitar. I would like to use it for an offertory instrumental. But it is a secular piece. Unlike What Child/Greensleeves it is purely an instrumental, lyrics have never existed for it. Is this any different than playing an instrumental to Beethoven's "Ode to Joy" for an offertory? Thoughts? Opinions?--
