Now, could God in cutting-edge missionary situations grant miracles and signs and wonders to accredit the gospel as He did in apostolic times? Yes. But that’s not the same thing as having these gifts as a regular feature in the ongoing life of the church. If the signs and wonders of the apostles have returned, we should see the blind receiving their sight, the lame walking, and the dead being raised. God heals today (sometimes dramatically), but the healing of colds, the flu, TMJ, stomach, and back problems, and so forth aren’t in the same category as the healings found in the Scriptures. If people truly have the gift of healing and miracles today, they need to demonstrate such by performing the kinds of healings and miracles found in the Bible.

MISPLACED LOVE

MATTHEW 22:34-40

INTRODUCTION

What do you really love?

Many people have trouble in this life because of misplaced love.

I.        LOVE OF DARKNESS IS A MISPLACED LOVE. (JOHN 3:19)

        II Corinthians 4:3-4-"But if our Gospel be hid..."

        Colossians 1:13-"Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the         power of his dear Son."

        Ephesians 5:8-"For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of         Light.

II.        LOVE OF SELF IS A MISPLACED LOVE. (II TIMOTHY 3:2)

        "What is in it for me?"

        One reason our families are in shambles is because of self-gratification and self-love.

III.        LOVE OF PLEASURE IS A MISPLACED LOVE. (II TIMOTHY 3:4)

        $218 billion was spent on pleasure last year.

        8 cents out of every dollar is spent on pleasure.

        Opryland, Golf Course, Lakes and Rivers.

IV.        LOVE OF THE WORLD IS A MISPLACED LOVE. (I JOHN 2:15-17)

        Wanting to fit in with the crowd.

        "Everybody's doing it."

V.          LOVE OF MONEY IS A MISPLACED LOVE. (I TIMOTHY 6:10)

        Covetousness. Wanting what someone else has achieved.

        More is never enough.

VII.        LOVE OF THE PRAISE OF MEN IS A MISPLACED LOVE. (MATT 6:1, 5)

        Loving the spotlight to be seen of men.

VIII.        LOVE THAT IS LEFT IS A MISPLACED LOVE. (REVELATION 2:4)

 

CONCLUSION

Don't misplace your love! If you have misplaced it, return back to the love you should have for God and others.
