Exodus 12:3-7, 13
THE LAMB
The People of Israel were preparing to leave Egypt. There would be one last plague before Pharaoh would agree to release the Israelites. The death angel would pass through. The Children of Israel were told to offer the Passover Lamb as a sacrifice and to spread the blood on the doorposts. The death angel saw the blood and passed over. Exodus 12:13
The Passover Lamb is a picture of our Lord Jesus Christ who is the "Lamb of God" and "our Passover". John 1:29 1 Corinthians 5:7
Consider:
A CHOSEN LAMB - Vs. 3
A lamb needed to be chosen by each family.
Jesus was chosen by God to be the Passover Lamb for the world. Philippians 2:5-8
A CLEAN LAMB - Vs. 5
The lamb needed to be perfect.
Jesus was perfect. He was sinless. 1 Peter 1:18-19
A CONSECRATED LAMB - Vs. 6
The Lamb was kept. He was set apart for the task of being the Passover Lamb.
Jesus was set apart to go to the cross to die for sin. Mark 14:36
A CRUSHED LAMB - Vs. 6
The Lamb was killed.
Isaiah 53:5
A COVERING LAMB - Vs. 7, 13
The blood was applied to the doorposts.
When the blood of Christ is applied to our lives we have forgiveness and our sins are covered. Romans 5:9

THE SUFFERING SERVANT
Here is a tremendous word of prophecy concerning "the suffering servant", the Lord Jesus Christ.
THE RENOWN OF HIS SUFFERINGS - 52:13-53:3
1. He shall be exalted. 52:13
2. Many will be astonished at His marred appearance. 52:14
3. He will startle many nations and kings will consider Him. 52:15
4. He became the world's greatest sufferer. 53:1-3
THE REDEMPTION THROUGH HIS SUFFERINGS - 53:4-6
1. He bore our grief, sorrows, transgressions, and iniquities. 53:4-6
2. He died for our sins. 53:5
3. He took our place. 53:6
THE RESIGNATION TO HIS SUFFERINGS - 53:7-9
1. His submission 53:7
2. His silence 53:7
3. His sinlessness 53:9
THE REWARDS FOR HIS SUFFERINGS - 53:10-12
1. Resurrection 53:10
2. Righteousness (Justification) of many 53:11

A COMPASSIONATE QUESTION - Vss. 13-17
Jesus wanted to know why the two on the road to Emmaus were sad.
He cared about His followers. He still does.
A CONFUSED ADMISSION - Vss. 18-24
The two had thought that Jesus was the one who would redeem Israel. Now He was dead. They did not understand true redemption that Jesus secured on the cross.
They were also confused about the reports of an open sepulchre and the appearance of angels.
A COMPLETE EXPLANATION - Vss. 25-27
Jesus explained the events of his suffering and resurrection according to the Old Testament Scriptures.
A CLEAR REVELATION - Vss. 28-32
Jesus made it clear that He had indeed risen from the dead.
