Simple It's Not

A simple thing it seems, and so we ask,
"Why can't we all just nicely get along?"
But simple it's not, for man is in rebellion,
The world aflame in passion, hurt, and hate.
Outside of Eden, man's a feral beast,
The wonder is not that so much violence happens,
But that so little occurs — what great restraint
Has held this world and kept it on its keel!
The Lord secures the earth for the final day
Of judgment; the righteous pray that He
May soon appear and sweep all evil away,
But God it is who holds in check the hordes
Of hell. And all the while the bombs explode.
