Single mothers home schooling?

Dear Hope Chest readers,
 
I just received a call from a friend who is in a custody dispute.  The investigator is questioning whether a single mom can adequately home school five children.  I will probably be called soon -- maybe even this afternoon -- as to the question of home schooling a large family.  The question I have for those of you who are single moms is how you successfully home school, especially with several children.  This is a question of academics and logistics only; there will be little or no discussion of religious aspects.
 
If you are a single mom, would you be able to help me out on this as soon as possible?  Just tell me what you do, what the results have been, and what the ages of your children are.
