SOWING FAITHFULLY THROUGH PRAYER

Posted by: spiritualdigest <spiritualdigest@...>

Dear Beloved,

SOWING FAITHFULLY THROUGH PRAYER

The greatest task that Jesus Christ gave to every
Christian is to sow the seed of the gospel in the lives
of the unbelievers (Matthew 28:19-20). This task has to
be done faithfully in many ways. One of the ways is
PRAYER. The importance of prayer to a Christian cannot
be overemphasized especially in mission enterprise. To
sow the seed of the gospel faithfully, we need to pray.
The best way we can support missions is to pray for
missions and the missionaries. In Romans 10:1, Paul's
missionary concern is seen in his prayer to God. We
also should have such concern and it should be
unceasing (Ephesians 1:16).

We can pray for many people and things in and about
missions. We can pray for the missionaries in the
mission fields and those that are planning to go. We
are to pray that God will touch the hearts of many
people to be ready to become faithful sowers of the
seed of the gospel. Many souls want this seed to sown
into them, but "how can they hear without someone
preaching to them?" (Romans 10:14). Pray that many
people will become part-time and/or full-time
missionaries to reach the lost souls.

The government of a particular country plays prominent
roles in mission activities in that country. Thank God
for governments that are favorable to missions. Pray
that others that are hostile to sowing the seed of the
gospel will open their doors so that the seed will be
sown freely in their countries. We are to pray for our
leaders that they will be able to maintain peace and
order so that the sowing of the gospel seed will grow
according to God's pattern and will.

Because money is a great factor in sowing the seed of
the gospel, let us pray that God will raise people that
will be faithful in giving for mission (Philippians
4:15). Pray that you personally will be faithful in
this regard. Pray also that these monies will be
properly used to the glory of God in sowing the seed of
the gospel faithfully among the unbelievers.

We are to pray for the unbelievers that they will open
their hearts to the gospel and let the seed of the
gospel be sown in the good soil of their hearts
(Matthew 13:7).

Sowing the seed of the gospel is a spiritual warfare.
This warfare "is not against flesh and blood, but
against the rulers, … the authorities, … the powers of
this dark world and … the spiritual forces of evil in
the heavenly realms" (Ephesians 6:12, NIV). The weapons
to fight this warfare are not the weapons of the world;
they are faithful prayers that "have divine power to
demolish strongholds … arguments and every pretension
that sets itself up against the knowledge of God…" (2
Corinthians 10:4-5, NIV).

Jesus declared that unless people see miraculous signs
and wonders, they would not believe the gospel (John 4:
48). Let us pray for signs and wonders to aid the
germination and growth of the gospel seed that is been
sown into the lives the unbelievers.

Pray for mission agencies as they organize, coordinate,
and participate in sowing the seed of the gospel, that
they will do these faithfully.

Many people complain that they do not have the time to
participate in mission nor enough resources to support
mission. However, these people can faithfully sow the
seed of the gospel through prayer. You may be one of
these people. Your faithful prayer will go a long way.
Are you ready to sow faithfully through prayer?

In His service,

Bayo Afolaranmi (Pastor).
