Splash help

Posted by: kagil <kagil@...>

This is the first time I've posted anything to this list, so forgive me if
I do something wrong.

Anyway, I'm having a problem with a "splash" window on an application.

The window is 200 X 200 and only contains static text. It does have a
colored background.

The window works just fine when the application opens, however, it causes a
"type 2" crash when called from the "About Application" under the Apple
menu. It first opens to the full screen size (which it shouldn't) then
immediately crashes. This happens under both the FB II environment and when
a free standing application. When it happens in the FB II environment, it
crashes FB II. When it happens as a free standing application sometimes it
totally crashes and hangs the machine (error 10).

The program and the splash window was laid out with PG. I have added
various functions, etc to the program, but have done nothing (as far as I
know) to the splash window.

Since it first opens full screen, I tried setting the max size of the
window to 200 X 200 in PG, but it didn't help. I also tried setting the
window type to "SPLA." That didn't help either.

I am running OS-8 and haven't had problems with any of the sample FB
applications.

What could I have done wrong? What can I try next?

BTW: Anyone seen the "Non Sequitur" cartoon in the funnies today (12/16/97)
about "State of the art capitalism?" Check it out...8-)
