Strange Problem

Posted by: bensted <bensted@...>

Greetings

This problem is solved but I am looking for an explanation. A friend
of my sisters installed a programme called MusicMatch Jukebox
on her computer. After the installation my sister went to start a
word document and got a missing .dll message. On further
investigation she discovered in my computer that what had been a
1 gig c drive and a partitioned (into 4) secondary drive was now an
8 partition system.

c was still there
d had been copied exactly to e f and g
e had become h
f had become i
and so on.

None of the shortcuts worked etc.

I told her to reboot, which she did, and that fixed the apparent
anomaly in my computer but all the shortcuts now point to what
were apparently the new drive letters.

No big deal, rebooting did the trick and it isn't hard to change the
targets or create new shortcuts. Obviously the copying of the d
drive wasn't real - something was reporting something spuriously.
After all, she was showing 14 gig on a 9 gig system.

Anyone have a clue?

Deb
