If anyone has any offerings in this respect, please post them to the list as
well as to Becca. It could do all of us a lot of good.
Thanks,
Matt Henry<<The husband of a former parishioner of mine committed suicide just before
Easter. I have been working hard with her and her two children (a 6 year old
boy and a 1 year old girl, whom I baptized) to understand and cope with this
tragedy. I've been looking for books to read to the 6 year old (and later,
the 1 year old) to help him deal with his father's suicide. Are there any
you can recommend?I have found good books on death and dying. Maria Shriver's new book, What
is Heaven?, is great, too. However, the only book I've found that mentions
suicide is When Dinosaur's Die, which is excellent. Do you know of any
others? Also, if you know of any literature, handouts, booklets, books or anything
else that can help parents understand and support their children through the
process of grieving for a parent who has committed suicide, I'd appreciate
hearing about it.Thanks for all your help.
Warmly,
