Sunflowers

Hello again!

Just wondering if anyone has had problems with sunflowers before? We just
had three plants come down the last few days. It appears that something
(rabbit, mice??? or bugs??) have chewed the bottom part of the stem, about
4-6 inches up. It looked all brown in that section. We had four plants
growing, the first one was snapped off in a big storm we had a little over a
week ago, so we are without sunflowers this year.
Yesterday I was thinking maybe to wrap the stem (like our fruit tree during
the winter??) at least the bottom part?
