I've done items for the kids; here's one for the,
er, mature ages.

TEA AND TOAST
by J. Randal Matheny

With drizzle and cold on the other side of the door,
There's nothing like a cup of piping hot tea
And toast, with bread bought fresh from the store;
A day to enjoy -- inside -- just you and me.

We'll pass the day with a novel in our lap;
For keeping warm, a coverlet on our knees.
And after lunch, we'll have that afternoon nap,
The eyelids following the drooping of the trees.

We'll leave the games and telly to the young,
The zaps and pings tire these aged ears;
A cozy, quiet hour to bore the high-strung,
Ah, this the glory of the golden years!

YOUR TURN

On "Yesterday We Spoke!" (20 June):

"Really nice and touching!" --Anon.

"Oh my gosh! Absolutely beautiful, exactly how I
(we) feel when someone is taken suddenly. I will
cherish and keep this for comfort in the future."
--Melody, Nashville. Tenn.

On "God Wants" (20 June): "This is a very
insightful message. If only we could be better
at doing what 'God Wants' rather than focusing
on what 'We Want.' Thanks for the reminder and
the encouragement to choose the better way."
--JoAnn, Fresno, Calif.
