TEMPTATION RAGES
by J. Randal MathenyTemptation rages, testing, probing,
searching for a sign of weakness,
ever seeking an entrance, willing,
inviting, dressing vile thoughts
in noble robes and novel rings.But I fight back, armed with prayers,
brandishing the sword, breaking chains
by the word of God, withstanding evil,
belt and helmet bound in place,
wielding weapons of spiritual war.Wounds I bear, and wolves surround me,
The day darkens from evil deeds.
The Lord of armies leaves the hill;
defeat seems sure, failure certain,
but dying hopes are the door of victory.==
