Dear friends,Thank you all so much for responding to the Hope Chest survey a few weeks ago! It seems like there was an even split between folks who like articles right in the e-mail and those who like links with short synopses. I'll probably do a combination. Unfortunately, I managed to delete a whole bunch of the surveys by accident (which is really easy to do the way Gmail keeps things in threads) so if you were asking to be put on my local (Orlando area) announcements list, please send me a note and ask again!I'm s-l-o-w-l-y writing the next Hope Chest issue on the theme of "In the Middle of the Story." I'm hoping to send it out by the end of the month! But I did want to send you links to some of my Thanksgiving stuff from years past, as well as a few other links, most notably for a free e-book on outreach. So, here it is!One NEW blog post related to gratitude: Give Us Grateful Hearts for Common Graces
Our Thanksgiving Indians A story of inviting international students from the nearby university for a holiday meal. Why not?Handling Family Issues and Visiting During the Holidays Does more than the kitchen heat up when you visit with relatives?

I saw the link for this lovely on-line home schooling magazine at Graham Family Ministries, since Sheri Graham has an article in the current issue: The Companion, November-December 2010 issue (magazine published by Christian Home Educators of Ohio). I haven't read through all of the articles yet, but they look very good, especially about the holidays.I also noticed on Facebook yesterday that Gary Thomas mentioned a free e-book about authentic Christian evangelism by Kevin Harney called Organic Outreach for Ordinary People. I trust his recommendations, so I downloaded it to my iPod and started reading. Then I downloaded it to my regular computer to continue reading. I'm at about halfway through the 256 pages, and I really like what I see. It makes sense. You can get the e-book by visiting http://www.outreachmagazine.com/. An ad should pop up offering a free e-mail subscription to Outreach Magazine. When you enter your e-mail address, it will take you to the page where you can download the book. Whether you are already active in sharing your Christian faith, or just dipping your toes in the water, PLEASE read this book and share it with others. It has discussion questions in it, so it would make an excellent group or family study. A prayer from the book that touched me today: "God of wisdom, your ways are beyond my comprehension. I will never fully grasp all you are and the mystery of your truth. Grant me humility to embrace what your Word teaches even when your revelation spills beyond the boundaries of my understanding. Grant me confidence in your Word and the truth you have revealed through the teachings of the Bible. In this world of confusion and uncertainty, let your truth capture my heart and overfl ow freely to others. Amen."Blessings,Virginia KnowlesWant to see a bigger version of this picture?
