O God, we ask that you comfort those suffering from the effects of Hurricane Katrina.
We pray for the people who return to homes destroyed or damaged by the storm. Calm their fears, give them hope in their loss, and the strength to begin again.

 

We pray for those whose lives were lost and for those who are grieving the loss of loved ones.

 

We pray for the reuniting of families seperated during the storm.

 

We also pray for those who are offering help and relief to the victims. May the relief efforts continue even after the media attention has waned.

 

Amen

 

 

"Sunshine Stew"

 

 

I developed this new recipe
That I thought I'd share with you -
It's just a little something
I like to call "Sunshine Stew!"

   
First I'll mix in flowers,
And a little pinch of spice
Then I'll add a dash of sunshine,
Now doesn't that sound nice?!

   
But that's not all that this calls for,
For there's still much more to add,
Like the many fond memories
Of all the good times we've had!

 
A big bushel of hugs
And a sweet little kiss,
A cup of relaxation
And a tablespoon of bliss!

Now the most important ingredient
I must add to this brew
Is nothing less significant
Than the love I have for you!

    
...And this is how you make
the sweetest "Sunshine Stew!"

 

 

"God’s Garden"

 

 

We are all small tiny flowers,
In God’s earthly garden we glow.
All the different varieties,
Showered with his love we grow.

 

Some of us are Roses,
He has showered with perfume.
Some are Birds of Paradise,
With their tall and stately plume.

 

Some are small Impatiens,
With their dainty little bloom.
Some are creeping Gazanias,
Who need lots and lots of room.

 

He takes the little stink weed,
And cultivates it’s soul.
He loves each and every one of us,
And forgives when we lose control.

 

Some are pretty, some are not,
Some are strong yet some are weak.
Some grow ever faithfully,
But in God’s eyes we’re all unique.

 

We all have different colors,
Waving happily in the breeze.
Helping others find the way,
As our God we wish to please.
 
He fertilizes us all with love.
He waters us with rain.
He keeps our roots within the ground,
Until he calls us home again.
