The Believer's Scent

Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge
of him. For we are to God the aroma of Christ among those who are being
saved and those who are perishing. To the one we are the smell of
death; to the other, the fragrance of life. And who is equal to such a
task? 2 Corinthians 2:14-16 NIV
Ever think about what you smell like? Of course, we cleanse our bodies
with soap and anoint them with deodorants and fragrances to stave off
less desirable odors, but those are not the only scents you carry.
Through us - blood-bought believers - God is spreading the fragrance of
the knowledge of Christ. That aroma permeates the spiritual air until
it reaches the very nostrils of God. And, to Him, we smell just like
Christ! What an amazing truth!
To those who are being saved - who themselves are walking in the
knowledge of Christ - we carry the fragrance of life. But not everyone
finds this bouquet pleasing. To those who are perishing - who do not
know Christ as Savior - we carry the smell of death.
Remember that you carry a scent wherever you go. How that scent is
received might just depend more upon the heart state of the recipient
than it does upon you.
Father, thank You for the precious blood of Jesus. Thank You that I
stand before You redeemed, not because of any good I have done, but
because Jesus paid the price for my sin debt. And because I bear His
name and wear His robe of righteousness, I carry forth His fragrance.
Lord, may the fragrance of my life bring glory to You. In Jesus' name,
amen.
