The Family Reunion

Posted by: Asn <Asn@...>

The Master himself will give the command. Archangel thunder! God's trumpet blast! He'll come down from heaven and the dead in Christ will rise--they'll go first. Then the rest of us who are still alive at the time will be caught up with them into the clouds to meet the Master. Oh, we'll be walking on air! And then there will be one huge family reunion with the Master. So reassure one another with these words.
1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 The Message

Her name was Vestal Goodman. She had a smile that could light up a whole city block and a presence that filled the platform or stage, and I was in awe of her. As Bill Gaither said, "Vestal was one of our national treasures...you just can't replace someone like Vestal." She was truly a splash of color in a gray world. If you never heard Vestal pray, you missed a special treat. I've heard her pray prayers of adoration and prayers of warfare; either way, you knew you were having church when Vestal prayed. Her fifty-plus years of ministry garnered multiple Grammy and Dove Awards and numerous television appearances; she was a guest at the White House on several occasions and was a much sought-after concert performer. She was friends with celebrities and common folks, and only eternity will tell the number of little girls like me she impacted on her journey through life. She will be sorely missed.

One day there will be "one huge family reunion with the Master." I so look forward to seeing my family members who are there and my heroes of the faith like Vestal and King David. I hope to meet my guardian angel - just to say thank you. But more than any other thing, my heart longs to be in the throne room of my King, to kneel at my Savior's feet, and to catch a glimpse of Father God's face.

Will you be there? If you're not absolutely sure that your name is on the family register, I invite you to make your reservation today. You can do so by praying from your heart (not just the top of your head) this prayer:

Dear God, I need You. I am a sinner in need of a savior. I invite you to come into my life and change me from the inside out. I give You control of my life, and I accept the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross as my ticket to heaven. I ask You, God, to be my heavenly Father. I ask all these things in Jesus' name. Amen.

If you prayed that prayer and meant it, welcome to the great big Family of God! If you are not currently part of a church, find one you love and let them love you. And I look forward to meeting you at the Family Reunion!
