Anyone read this book yet? I just finished it and thoroughly enjoyed it! I must confess that I love Lori Wick (the first Christian Fiction I ever read was Sophie's Heart) and I love historical fiction set in England especially in the 1800s!
The Visitor is the third in Wick's English Garden Series. We return to Collingbourne to visit with the lovely people of that village. Babies are on the way, romance is in the air, and life is moving forward at a nice steady pace.
Londoner Alexander Tate has come to Collingbourne to stay with his aunt after being thrown from his horse and loosing his sight. While there, he meets the youngest of the three lovely Steele Sisters, Cassandra. Cassie, a demur freckled faced redhead, spends time reading to Tate and at the same time stealing his heart while losing hers! In the meantime, another Steele sister has lost her heart to one who has gone far away and wonders if he will return. The Visitor paints a wonderful picture of this English village and its inhabitants and also contains many wonderful lessons from Scripture.
I was so moved by the church scenes in this book. The pastor's sermons were wonderful and I truly felt I learned from them! I comment Wick for weaving that into her story.
If this book piques your interest, be sure to read the first two in the series -- The Proposal and The Rescue -- both are wonderful!
